What Is the Difference Between CBD Capsules and CBD Oil?

  • Blog

CBD has grown increasingly popular over the last few years. Its popularity began with the legalization of marijuana in some states. However, even in states where marijuana-derived CBD is prohibited, hemp-derived CBD is seeing a huge surge in popularity. That is because people have found CBD helpful for a variety of things, from helping reduce anxiety and pain to possible long-term health benefits.

There are many ways to get your CBD including oils, tinctures, gummies, and capsules. Two of the most popular forms are oils and capsules. In this article, we will explore the difference between CBD oil and CBD capsules.

What is CBD?

First, it is important to understand what CBD is. CBD, full name cannabidiol, is a cannabinoid found in cannabis sativa, or the marijuana and hemp plants. It interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, but, unlike the other well-known cannabinoid, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), it is not psychoactive. In other words, CBD does not get you high.

Whether you choose CBD capsules or CBD oils, the products should be labeled with their description. If they are labeled as CBD isolate, then the only cannabinoid they contain is CBD. If they are labeled full-spectrum and derived from hemp, then they may include other cannabinoids, including CBN and CBG. If CBD capsules are full spectrum and derived from marijuana, they may contain THC.

CBD Oils

CBD oils, also known as tinctures, are administered by droppers, and you can take them sublingually, which lets them bypass the digestive system. For that reason, CBD oils interact more quickly with the body. CBD oils are versatile, because you can add them into drinks or food products. CBD oils also come in a variety of flavors.

CBD Capsules

CBD capsules offer the benefits of oils, but in easy-to-take soft gels. They are portable and easy to take. They are also easy to dose, since each capsule contains a specific dose. If you dislike the flavor of hemp, capsules can provide the benefits of CBD without the hemp taste. However, they do have some drawbacks for some users. They come in set milligrams, which makes it more difficult to adjust your dose. Some gelatin capsules may also contain animal products, though you can get vegan gel caps.

Choosing between CBD oil and CBD capsules is often a matter of personal preference. However, you do not have to choose. Many people choose both oil and capsules, depending on what they need that day.
